Coach's Interviews, Scores and Stats for Sept 20, 2013 Games

Airline at Franklin Parish
1st Qtr: 0-12
2nd Qtr: 9-12
3rd Qtr:
4th Qtr: 15-12
Final: 15-12

Quick Stats:
Airline Coach Bo Meeks: It wasn't so bad during first half, but poured mercilessly during the second. Reminds me of the Ash game from a few years ago. We punched in points and got a safety, the guys just found a way to win. We had one turnover when the ball stuck in the mud during a snap. Punter Kyle Briggs had a big game: Senior who has kicked for us for 3 years did a great job!

Random Observation of the Night:
During Thursday's game, the head lineman's shoes were covered in white bubbles.  Two referees bickered constantly about where they were supposed to stand, but Mr SudsyShoes ended the conversation with, "Hey I work on Saturdays." And that was that.

Haughton at Minden
1st Qtr: 7-0
2nd Qtr: 14-0
3rd Qtr:
4th Qtr:
Final: Haughton 34 Minden 7 FINAL

Quick Stats:
Haughton's Coach Guin says it was the worse field condition of any he's ever played on. Ankle-deep water all over the Field. (There's a reason Minden's stadium is called "The Pit"!).  After the first touchdown the players were having fun!

Haynesville at Homer

2nd Qtr:
3rd Qtr:
4th Qtr: 52-0
Final: 56-4

Quick Stats:
@KSLASports: Haynesville leads Homer 52-0 with 11:03 left in game
Haynesville wins the Claiborne Parish Super Bowl, the 107th meeting making this the oldest, most-played rivalry in Louisiana.  Wonder if anyone traveling from Homer to Magnolia takes a detour to avoid driving through Golden Tor territory.

Many at Loyola
1st Qtr: 0-0
2nd Qtr: 14-7
3rd Qtr: 14-7
4th Qtr: 14-7
Final: 14-7

Quick Stats:
Many threatening to score again in 2nd
With 5 turnovers, Loyola was having a hard time holding on to the ball.  Many proved their top ranking in Class 2A is not a fluke.

Loyola's Center, William Sirven:
Weather had a lot to do with the turnovers. Coach Carter told us to look at loss in positive ways, our defense held them which was good because they are ranked 1. We have Northwood next week. I played center all game, Eldrick English fought hard despite upper body injury.

Loyola's Coach Alan Carter:
We didn't cash in on opportunities- we got inside the red zone but had turnovers. We have to take care of the ball. Bottom line is Many took care of the ball better than we did.

A big THANK YOU to Coach Carter for coming to Rotolos to talk with us live on the air, especially after a loss!  Not a surprise that he was available... all class!

Evangel principal, Bud Dean called in to report on the game. He said (former Evangel Quarterback, head coach and current offensive coordinator) Phillip Deas said before the game Curry throws the best "wet ball" he's ever seen.  On a 15-yard out, when Curry had to throw the ball 30-35 yards in the air, it got there with some zip on it.  This kid is something special.

Northwood at Bossier
1st Qtr: 21-0
2nd Qtr:
3rd Qtr: 55-0
4th Qtr: 62-6
Final: 62-6

Northwood's Coach Gaitlin:
We knew Aaron was good athlete, 4.0 student and does what he has to do to win. Everything went right for us- we are good with our front 4. Last week was so emotional- we lost our QB- this week everyone was up, laughing, fun. Kids weren't worried- they told me 'we'll get it done!' Defense had good scheme, a lot of different formations and with Davenport, Baker and Hall and Duncan makes things happen. Bossier isn't throwing the ball, so we could depend
We hadn't beat Bossier since 1997- good win!

Parkway at Arkansas High
Canceled

Parkway's Coach Feaster: said they couldn't get in touch with Arkansas High. If you cancel school, guess you can't play football.  Feaster tried to get in touch with Arkansas High HC... no success. Finally Ms. Bourgeois (Parkway principal) received message from Arkansas High Principal that game would be canceled and not made up.

Mansfield has a heck of a football team, put some first downs together had some decent drives. We did a great job on Mansfield's QB- worked on trying to get him running sideways in practice. We were able to do some things offensively that we haven't been able to do. Will be something we can build on.

Thot my 3 year old was going to make me an old man, but this game... Phenomenal game. Got 2 freshman  and 6 sophomores starting- final drive 4th and 1 we ran a jet sweep, we had a horse collar, 3rd down we threw it up and caught a perfect pass, it was a fade, we were down 5 and had to throw it. Damien Boone had a phenomenal night. He caught two touchdown passes from Kenyon Crowder, including the game-winner with :12 to play! Boone also added a touchdown run.  "We got 5 on defense, really young team, really excited, got an awesome group. Always better when your smiling. Earlier in the week enjoyed that Rotolos... it's just a bouple of minutes from the house!"
